with their first truck in 1981. It was a dirty job!
How
are they cleaned? We
use equipment that is designed specifically for ductwork cleaning.
Using a vacuum that pulls 16,000 cubic feet of air per minute, the
air is pulled from the vents toward the furnace. A high-velocity
blower is used to break loose anything at the registers. We then
insert a high-velocity air sweeper into the ductwork. This nozzle
actually crawls inside the ductwork up to the register, and when
pulled back toward the furnace it sweeps everything back out into
the vacuum truck. We also clean the blower, plenums,
and vents.
What benefits can I expect from having my ducts cleaned? Many of our customers (even ones without allergies) report that they no longer wake up with stuffy heads. Allergy sufferers may find relief from sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. The dust level in the house is reduced, musty odors are gone, and air flow may be increased as much as 40% (depending on the amount of dust on the blower and in the ducts). Heating and cooling costs will be reduced.
